Date Night with Kabana Rooftop

Hellllllo everyone!  It's been a while!  I have been away for some time you guys--and with good reason.  This summer I really wanted to focus on having a real summer vacation.  This included heading out West for a turned up Vegas bachelorette party and back to my home state of California for my long time friend's wedding.  I had such a blast and it was so good for the soul to reconnect with friends I've known for over 25 years. I was able to document most of the vacation on social media and if you follow me there you were able to see photos.  Quite honestly making a whole blog post of every aspect of my time felt more like a job and I just wasn't in the head space to do all of that this time.

Some other things that I've been focusing on lately is my day time career and obtaining my Virginia Contracting Associate Certification.  I'll have to fill you guys in on all of my professional endeavors in another post.  Aside from all that, I've been enjoying my everyday life.  Spending time with my husband, family, and close friends.  This post is dedicated to just that.

For as long as I can remember my husband and I have always been intentional about having a date night.  It's the one or two nights out of the week where we decide on something fun to do together that gets us out of the house, out of the everyday work/home life, and out to enjoy the city.  Each date night may be something different, but for the most part, we've decided any experience should include good food and strong drinks regardless of what we do!

Since moving to Richmond last year, we've had so much fun discovering new places to explore and dine from.  For our previous date night, we were really excited when Kabana Rooftop invited us out to check out their newly renovated space + food and drinks.  Located 20 floors above Richmond’s financial district, Kabana is a rooftop bar, lounge and terrace offering hand-crafted cocktails, beer, wine and small snacks.  Rooftop parties definitely seem to be a thing out here in Richmond.  Since discovering Kabana, I knew we had to get out and experience the lounge for ourselves before the summer ends.

To start the evening we ordered a few cocktails to toast after a long work week and also in celebration of my recent job certification.  I had the 'Sunset Margarita' and Will went with a classic 'Long Island'.  The 'Sunset Margarita was definitely fitting as we had casual conversation while the sun went down.  Next, we kept things pretty simple and ordered a few appetizers--Fried Buffalo Wings and Fried Calamari.  The Buffalo wings were so satisfying as the Calamari was very fresh.

Not only were the food and drinks perfect for a Friday night; the views were also amazing.  Kabana has some of the best lighting, which is why I was able to capture such great photos.

As the sun went down we continued to enjoy more drinks of course.  If you ever visit, be sure to try the 'Pink Coconut' if you're in the mood for Rum.  The night time skyline was the perfect ending to a great time at Kabana.  Make sure you bring a light sweater ladies : )  The cool breeze was the perfect reminder that the summer season will be over soon.  Kabana has lots of fun events sprinkled throughout the week.  I definitely want to try and catch Countdown to Sundown Happy Hour on Thursdays where they offer a different drink special on the hour, every hour featuring  King Of Pops of Richmond.  There's also Sunset Salsa every Tuesday night where Kabana offers FREE salsa lessons starting at 7 pm as well as tequila specials and tacos starting at $3.

Check out more of what this fab rooftop lounge has to offer HERE.  The staff at Kabana were extremely gracious and pleasant!

What are some places that you'll be visiting before the summer is over?  This weekend I plan to lots more celebrating because ...IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!  I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.  I most definitely will!  Shop my Date Night look below!
