WEEKEND COCKTAILS

IMG_0274.JPG

Who should we thank for deeming liquor stores as an “Essential Business” during this time of social distancing? 😂. I’m already starting to miss going out downtown for weekend cocktails. However, I truly find enjoyment in utilizing my bar cart to make a few delicious drinks right at home!

I figured now would be a great time to share a few drinks that I’ll be experimenting with this weekend. I find that staying inside, cooking, and making cocktails are pretty much the makings of an enjoyable quarantine. Wouldn't you agree?

I’ve had these drinks while out and about in the last 2 months and they are simple enough to make at home. Continue on to see what I’ll be mixing up this weekend down below!

LOVE POTION VODKA

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup vodka

1/4 cup peach schnapps or peach liqueur

1 cup ruby red grapefruit juice (or any red juice with cherry or raspberry in it)

This is a very fun drink to mix up while you quarantine and chill with your honey😉 It will be love at first drink after only a few sips!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add ice to cocktail shaker, then add all ingredients. Cover shaker and shake a few times until cold. Pour into prepared glasses. Feel free to garnish with a toothpick with maraschino cherries and strawberries if preferred.

VODKA CHERRY LIMEADE

INGREDIENTS:

4 oz vodka

4 oz limeade

2 oz grenadine

Lemon lime soda

Garnish: lime wedges, maraschino cherries

I had a Cherry Limeade a few weeks back at one of my favorite restaurants in Henrico. The restaurant made it sans alcohol but it also makes for a refreshing cocktail!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Add vodka, limeade, and grenadine to a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass filled halfway with crushed ice. Top with enough soda to almost fill the cocktail glass. Top with more crushed ice. Garnish with lime wedges and maraschino cherries.

Which of these cocktails will you be trying this weekend?
