Product Review - TRESemme' Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner

I shared with you guys before that I was an official 'Curly Girl', meaning, I now follow the Curly Girl Method. For more information click HERE.  My go to co-washing conditioner and leave-in is TRESemme Naturals' Nourishing Moisture Conditioner.

INGREDIENTS:

Water (Aqua, Eau), stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, fragrance (parfum), lauroyl lysine, caprylyl glycol, brassica campestris/aleurites fordi oil copolymer, aspartic acid, distearyldimonium chloride, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, citric acid, alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice

WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO:

Tresemme Naturals Moisture Conditioner with USDA certified organic aloe vera and avocado extracts, moisturizes your hair for protection against damage and breakage. Our unique silicone free formula for lightweight conditioning infuses hair with moisture for hair that's noticeably more manageable and smooth. Discover 10x stronger hair after just one use! Silicone free. No dyes. Hypoallergenic. Safe for color treated hair.

HOW I USE THE PRODUCT:

I have been using this product for about three months now.  How I normally use this in conjunction with the CG Method is I'll co-wash (wash my hair with conditioner) with another conditioner and once I rinse that out, I apply a generous palm sized amount of the TRESemme to my entire head of hair.  This is done on soaking wet hair.  I allow the product to sit in my hair for a few minutes while in the shower.  Afterwards I go ahead and gently finger detangle my hair.  Once this is completed, I DO NOT RINSE.  Again, this is in line with the CG method.  This is a botanical conditioner, meaning, it does not contain Silicone ingredients, so it does not weigh the curls down or cause build up.  Next, before stepping out of the shower I tilt my head to the side and gently squeeze out any excess  water.  I normally allow my hair to air dry and style as usual.  You have the option to use a diffuser as well.

MY OPINION OF THE PRODUCT:

I have to say that this conditioner is hands down my absolute favorite.  First of all it smells great. It's a very soft and light smell--not overpowering at all.  I don't know about you ladies but smell is everything to me!  There's nothing worse than to use a product on your hair that smells too strong or have a medicine smell to it.  The smell is very refreshing.

Second, it makes my hair very soft and easy to detangle.  That's another big thing because I have so much hair.  It's important to have untangled, knot-free hair.  This product makes the job easy.

Finally, as far as styling goes its incredible.  I would have never thought that I would be able to just apply conditioner to my hair and achieve great curl definition.  With the CG Method you have the option to apply gel to style your curls, but with this product I don't have to do that at all.  By the time my hair dries my curls are soft, springy, and very defined.  As far as I'm concerned what the product claims to do it does and I appreciate that.  I have experienced well moisturized curls and will continue to use this product.

My hair fully dry after my work day

Thoughts?  Have you tried TRESemme' Naturals conditioner?  How has it worked for you? I'd like to know!

  1. Hi Samara,
Awesome blog girl! I would like to comment on the Tresemme conditioner, I do like their products and I have used this particular conditioner and it is good. I would recommend you trying Marcoonoil products, they are great for hydrating natural curls and will not leave buildup. Also Alter Ego has a great line of conditioners that I know you would absolutely love!!!!:-)

    1. Hey Jennifer! Thanks so much for your comment! I am so glad you enjoy the blog. Isn't Tresemme awesome? Lol, anywho, I'll most definitely look into the Marcoon oil and Alter Ego. I do need to change it up a bit and love to try new products. Are these items sold in stores or do I need to purchase them online? Also, do they have all natural ingredients? Interested in trying these out!

  2. I have tried that conditioner before on my natural hair and was plesently surprised. Currently, I have a new fav... conditioners by Aussie; specifically from their "moist" collection. I don't know if it's silicon free. BUT it givbes my hair A LOT of slip(which I need because my hair is tightly coiled).

    1. It's funny because Aussie Moist was my favorite conditioner before I started following the Curly Girl Method! I loved it! It does have a cone in it but it is considered a "modified CG" product to use meaning you can just use a cleanser more often to remove any build up.

  3. How long does a bottle last you?

  4. A google search of using this condish as a leave-in led me to your blog... I immediately bookmarked :)
I've been transitioning from relaxed to texlaxed and my hair is SOOOO dry, I came across the CG method and thought it might work for me.. I wear wigs to work during the week so I don't have to fuss with styling. Since you use it as a leave-in too, does this keep your hair super moisturized? Thanks

    1. Hey Mallory! Thanks for stopping by : ) I do believe that the CG method may benefit you bc you are texlaxed. I must say that the product as a leave in does keep my hair moisturized. I do however moisturize daily with my Shea Moisture hair milk. So if I don't co-wash that day I will apply the milk to my hair and style as usual. You may also have to deep condition your hair a little more often than normal because of your two textures. I have a homemade recipe that I have posted on the blog as well.

    2. Thank you for the reply. I was noticing that my hair seems dry after using it as a leave in twice now. I realize it's great as a co-wash but not so great as a leave-in. I actually have the Shea Moisture hair milk (can you say recovering PJ)... I'll give that a try, fingers crossed. I'll look into the homemade recipe as well. Thanks again for the response :)

    3. Also I would suggest using Olive Oil on top of the conditioner. That may seal in the moisture a little more. But I do apply moisturizer to my hair everyday which makes a difference.

  5. You & your hair are absolutely GORGEOUS!! Anywho, this conditioner is the BIZNESS!! haha. I'm long-term transitioning from relax to Natural and i used to be so hooked on cone conditioners for slip. i.e Aussie Moist, Hello Hydration (old formula), Pantene Relaxed & Natural to name a few. Don't get me wrong, they all smelled good & gave me good slip & softness, but i want true softness, slip & moisture w/out all the cones and using shampoo to remove them all the time.

I was VERY shocked at how much this cone-free conditioner gave me SO much slip, moisture & softness. It's my true staple go-to conditioner! I even bought 10 extra more bottles of it to put in stock incase is discontinues! haha. I hope it NEVER discontinues like most hair companies that change or discontinue their most popular products. I mostly use it as a leave-in and in my AVJ mix spritz. So a whole bottle lasts me up to 4 or 5 months since i'm pretty low maintenence anyway.

I'm currently 12 months post and this conditioner STILL delivers! It's my true staple. I even plan on leaving some in for wash n gos. Great blog! HHG! :)

    1. Hello there! Well thank you for taking the time to stop by my site! I am so glad you enjoyed this post!

I definitely know what you mean about those other cone filled conditioners! I use to LOVE Aussie Moist as well. Tresemme Natural's did well with this conditioner. I believe they have even changed the formula to this product and added more of Aloe Vera to it. AWESOME!

I'm glad your transition is going well! Stay tuned because I will have more posts that you may find helpful!

    1. Thank you for stopping by with your sweet comments! I have not tried the suave humectant unfortunately. I haven't tried V05 either. I have so many different products I want to use them all before I buy more. I argee with the "if it aint broke, dont fix it!" Do what works for you. With my Tresemme I find that I have a great slip! I love it. Since it is a cheapy you can just try this on a whim. You will not be disappointed!

  8. Doesn't isopropyl alcohol dry your hair out? i have this product also but this ingredient makes me worried about leaving this in.

  9. This ingredient is a drying agent. However, I counter act it by apply a moisturizer to my hair. So after I wash and leave this in, I apply my shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie. My hair feels great afterwards!

  10. I Absolutely agree with Samara!! My 4b-c hair does NOT like butters, gels or or anything heavy or sticky. I stumbled upon using this product from a blog and added a little oil/serum and to my amazement I fell in love with my hair. FINALLY a product to add moisture and shine to my typically dull hair. OMGOSH!!
